None. United Way of Greater Baytown Area & Chambers County (UWGBACC) is supported by corporate sponsors. They cover the administration (overhead) costs, which means 100% of your United Way donation goes back into the community.
UWGBACC is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) eligible to receive tax-deductible gifts. You should discuss the tax deductibility of your gift with a tax professional. Please keep a copy of your United Way donation receipt for your tax records.
In Baytown, Highlands, and Chambers County, United Way supports programs that provide people with the support they need to improve their current situation, such as utilities, rent, clothing, food, education programs for kids, and job supports. Your United Way supports programs that support education, financial stability, health and basic needs.
UWGBACC’s role in the community continues to evolve. While UWGBACC has historically been a solely fundraising entity, your United Way has expanded to a truly unique position to recruit, convene, and collaborate with the right people and organizations who bring the passion, expertise, and resources needed to get things done. Few, if any, organizations are able to span private business, nonprofit, government, and school systems the way UWGBACC can to create a network of donors, advocates, and volunteers focused on making community-wide solutions to issues impact all residents. UWGBACC staff works in partnership with knowledgeable, trained volunteers representing the diversity of our community. A volunteer Board of Directors sets policy and strategic direction. Various committees make program-funding recommendations, oversee financial practices, and provide guidance on operational issues.
No single agency can meet all community needs. When you give to UWGBACC, your gift becomes a part of a collective effort. UWGBACC convenes strategic partners who bring the right strengths to help accelerate and advance our community’s progress. Your gift allows you to accomplish more than you can alone or through a single charity.
Knowledgeable, trained volunteers from across our community – people much like yourself – carefully evaluate and select the programs and initiatives to receive funding. Community Investment volunteers review agency programs and budgets to assure that every dollar is well spent.
When you support United Way, our entire community is strengthened because more children are succeeding in school; more families are learning to be financially stable; more people have access to healthy choices; and more opportunities are available in the community. You or a family member may have already used a United Way-supported program without realizing it. In fact, people from all backgrounds benefit from collaborations like disaster services, scouting programs, youth mentoring programs, food and shelter assistance, and out-of-school activities. If a loved one needed Meals on Wheels, or if your brother received help with his rent deposit, you have benefited from a United Way funded program.
Every day ordinary people are accomplishing extraordinary things by giving, advocating, and volunteering. Volunteer Connect is the UWGBACC volunteer portal. Many different volunteer opportunities with United Way and its partner agencies are available to choose from. You can register your name and contact information to receive immediate updates as opportunities and needs come up. In addition, Volunteer Connect tracks your volunteer hours for you, making it easy to calculate your community contribution or to print / report your hours to your employer or other organization.
