Job name: Youth Development Counselor –Baytown YMCA

Salary Range: $10.00-$12.00 per Hour

Full or part time position: Part-time Seasonal 

Position Summary: Assist with providing quality care in before and after-school site and camp setting by teaching values, ensuring safety and facilitating structured play and educational activities with the children, in accordance with state requirements and YMCA policy.  Assist with providing a quality experience to children and parents that focuses on youth development, including the YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, caring, and faith.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Program Quality: Assist with planning and implementing lesson/activity plans curriculum that includes formal and informal play within the center and outdoors that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate and consistent with YMCA core values.
Daily Operations: Maintains the program site and camp environment by adhering to YMCA of Greater Houston program standards and childcare licensing minimum standards.
Leadership: Supervises children under the direction of the Site Lead. Makes sound decisions in alignment with YMCA and state standards. Acts as a role model to the children by exemplifying the YMCA’s five core values.
Relationship Building: Maintains positive relations with children, parents, school personnel, directors and other staff. Attends and participates in staff meetings, and staff trainings.
Child Abuse Presentation: Reports suspicious and inappropriate behaviors and policy violations. Follows mandated abuse and incident reporting requirements. Ensures youth are properly signed in and signed out, ensures only authorized adults are allowed in the facility, etc. Adheres to policies related to boundaries with each child. Ensures unused rooms and closets remain locked; routinely monitors high-risk locations (bathrooms), etc.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) with demonstrated interested in the welfare of children; prior childcare or baby-sitting experience is preferred.

WORK SCHEDULE

Camp: Typically Monday-Friday, 6:30 am – 6:30 pm with a morning, afternoon and evening shift option (start and end time may vary). Camps run concurrently with ISD calendar breaks.

Description:
The Human Resource Generalist position will perform human resource administrative duties to support the overall operations of the organization’s human resource department.

Human Resources: Manages the administration of human resources policies, procedures, and programs. Carries out responsibilities for employee relations, benefits, compensation, organizational development, and employment. Ensure compensation and benefits are in line with company policies. Handles employee complaints, grievances, and disputes. Coordinates employee safety, welfare, and wellness. Maintains knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting HR functions. Responsible for ensuring PTO, absenteeism, compensation, benefits, and other pertinent dates are tracked in the HR system. Maintain Employee Handbook and job descriptions.

Other Business Functions: Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified applicants. Works closely with department managers/supervisors to identify skills and competencies of each department. Coordinates and schedule interviews for open positions. Ensures all new hire paperwork, including background checks are complete before the employee’s initial start date. Complete the hiring steps for GCCISD for each applicant. Assist in orienting new employees to the organization (setting up a designated login, workstation, email address, etc.) Process all exit interview and other related duties, as assigned.

Description:
This position is primarily responsible for managing the organization's financial planning, accounting practices, fundraising, human resources, as well as payroll and other business functions by performing the following duties.

Finance: Plans, implements, and manages all financial-related activities, including monthly cash flow and financial forecasting. Oversees and works closely with Finance Committee concerning job costing, expense reduction, institutional financing, and related legal issues. Prepares monthly financial reporting materials for presentation to Executive Director and Finance Committee. Provides financial reporting, budgeting support and fiscal monitoring for fund development efforts. Conducts audit preparation and serves as primary liaison with the auditing firm that prepares the annual audit and Form 990s. Ensures that effective internal controls are in place and advise on the continued development of streamlined administrative and financial systems. Oversees and work closely with the Executive Director and Finance Committee to plan and develop annual budget, financial forecasts, and strategic plans.

Payroll: Maintains payroll information by working with established payroll services, directing the collection, calculation, and entering of data. Updates payroll records by reviewing and approving changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, and job titles. Pays employees by directing the production and issuance of electronic transfers to bank accounts. Prepares reports by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages. Determines payroll liabilities by calculating employee federal income and social security taxes, and employer's social security, unemployment, and worker’s compensation payments. Balances the payroll accounts by resolving payroll discrepancies.

Description: Student Services. Case manage up to 100 students each school year. Ability to assess student needs and collaborate with school staff to make appropriate linkages to academic, physical, social and other services for students and their families. Create individualized student and family plans, outlining specific needs and courses of action for on-site or referral services. Provide oversight of all service delivery, ensuring that students receive the services outlined in the assessment plan. Track activities and ensure accountability for the resources invested at the site. Serve as advocate and role model for students.

Relationship to School and Community. Work collaboratively with campus staff to maintain a positive CIS Baytown image. Provide orientation of the CIS Baytown program. Actively market the CIS Baytown program. Regularly interface with staff, teachers, counselors, social workers and resource agencies involved in collaborative services. Provide feedback to school principal. Ensure effective communication on all CIS Baytown sponsored activities to parents and faculty. Regularly participate in school-side activities and major events.

Data Collection/Evaluation. Assess student and campuses needs. Gather, enter and analyze collected data for individual, group and school-wide programmatic evaluation. Develop activities and services to meet the needs of campuses and students. Ensure that annual reporting are current and accurate, and that students’ profile folders are complete and submitted on time. Provide data to Program Director.
