ANNUAL STAMP OUT HUNGER FOOD DRIVE

10%

The United Way of Greater Baytown Area & Chambers County is calling on residents across Baytown to take part in the upcoming Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive, the nation’s largest single-day food drive, taking place on Saturday, May 9, 2026.

Organized annually by the National Association of Letter Carriers, Stamp Out Hunger provides an easy and impactful way for families to help neighbors facing food insecurity. Community members are encouraged to leave non-perishable food donations in the Stamp Out Hunger bag by their mailbox before mail delivery on May 9. Letter carriers will collect donations along their routes and ensure they are distributed to local food banks and pantries.

“Food insecurity continues to affect families right here in our community,” said Kaci Pena, Director of Community Engagement at United Way. “Stamp Out Hunger is a simple but powerful way for everyone to make a difference. Just one bag of groceries can help feed a neighbor in need.”

For many local food pantries, the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive provides a critical boost at a time when donations often begin to slow. As families transition into the summer months—when children are out of school and access to school-based meals decreases—demand for food assistance rises. Donations collected during Stamp Out Hunger help ensure pantries can keep shelves stocked and continue serving families, seniors, and children when the need is at its highest.

Community members can participate by simply filling a bag with non-perishable food items while also encouraging friends, family, and neighbors to join in. Donations can also be dropped off in advance at the United States Post Office or at the United Way of Greater Baytown Area & Chambers County office through May 8. United Way works year-round to advance community solutions that improve lives and strengthen families across the region, with a focus on Healthy Community, Youth Opportunity, Financial Security, and Community Resilience—building a stronger, more equitable future for all.
