UWIN April 2022

Big Deal

Thank you for volunteering with us!

April is Volunteer Appreciation Month and we want to celebrate YOU - the one who gives their time serving others, who puts their heart into changing someone's life, and who makes change happen. As a volunteer led organization, United Way of Greater Baytown Area and Chambers County depends on folks just like you to join with us in making a collaborative impact on the community. Together, we can be stronger and more resilient because of your participation. CHECK OUT THE VIDEO from Jacob Ickes, Community Impact Coordinator, to find out how YOU can partner with UWGBACC to affect positive change.

Do Good

It's a proven fact, volunteering is good for your physical and mental health! Really. Benefits can include a boosted self-confidence, less stress and / or depression, an increased sense of purpose, new social skills - better yet, it's just plain fun! But don't just take our word for it - read these volunteer testimonials:

CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocacy for Children)
Connecting to the kids at their level, being a good listener, and follow through is very important! I know what abandonment feels like, it really never goes away, even as an adult. These kids help me as much as I help them. It's like we are "family", no words are needed, we just know we vibe the same tune...we are there for each other...We are not victims, we are survivors!

I am a retired person living on a fixed income and I needed food assistance, someone told me about Hearts & Hands. When I arrived, everyone was so nice and made me feel special. It was that very day, I not only registered to receive food, but signed up to become a volunteer. I give thanks to this great ministry...I love being a part of this great organization as both a client and volunteer! This has filled my life with purpose, and I look forward to serving for many years to come.

Have you heard about the LIVE UNITED award? Or that the winner will be announced for a fifth year at the Volunteer Awards and Appreciation Luncheon

The LIVE UNITED Award is given to the individual or group that exemplifies the pillars of United Way: Give, Advocate, and Volunteer.

United Way GBACC works to bring the community together, create new possibilities, and equip our neighbors for success, and the LIVE UNITED Award was established to recognize exceptional commitment and dedication toward United Way's mission. As the pinnacle award for volunteerism, the LIVE UNITED recipient is selected for their direct involvement, continued support, and selfless service to the community. Previous LIVE UNITED Award recipients include:
•    Nick and Paula Jared (Retired) - 2018
•    Patti O'Neil Burn (ExxonMobil) - 2019
•    Baytown Area Chambers County Disaster Recovery Group - 2020

To be a part of this year's announcement on Thursday, April 21st, RSVP here.

It's not too late to give hope by giving local.
100% of your donation goes back into the community to create local impact. In 2021, over 42,000 lives were impacted by YOUR investment - that is 1 in 3 people in the greater Baytown area and Chambers County. Will you join us again this year?
