As part of Be Sparkle’s continued commitment to giving back to the community in the midst of COVID-19, the fashion company donated more than 500 masks to the United Way of Greater Baytown Area and Chambers County to distribute to area non-profits and residents in need.

Be Sparkle Owner Myriam Gateault presented 500 masks to United Way CEO Melissa Reabold in July and then donated additional masks for an event for their Women United affinity group.

“We are proud recipients of the company’s ‘Buy One, Donate one’ program that provides an additional layer of protection from the coronavirus,” Reabold said. “There was a special meaning to have a woman-owned business support our Women United group with added mask donations.”

In addition to the donation to non-profits, the company’s primary outreach mission is to support cancer causes.

“This business was started as a passion-project combining our love for fashion with wanting to give back to those battling cancer,” Gateault said.

Since that beginning, Be Sparkle has expanded from their original signature cancer cap to sparkle hats, cowboy boots, tights and other accessory items and now face masks. They recently added new colorful child size masks just in time for school starting. These masks include a nose piece and adjustable ear strap for maximum comfort. An added bonus is a laundry bag to safely wash the reusable cotton mask.

When COVID-19 swept the world, Be Sparkle repurposed their business to provide high-quality durable cotton masks.  These masks aren’t like the ones sewn at home – they are 100% Jersey cotton double-sided with a filter pocket opening to add an optional 2.5 PM carbon filter. They come in child and adult sizes with an adjustable ear piece and in multiple colors.

The cloth face coverings are intended to help prevent respiratory droplets and secretions from becoming airborne while coughing, sneezing or speaking. They are considered an enhancement to safety protocols as social distancing is still in effect while wearing it.
