Many individuals in our community are struggling each and every day to get by and make ends meet. What is not realized is that most of these individuals are working. UW introduced ALICE a few years ago. ALICE stands for Asset Limited Income Constrained Employed. Many people in our community identify as ALICE and work one or more jobs, yet they live paycheck to paycheck. At UW we believe it is important that the community understands poverty and finds ways to work together to change lives by improving the situation so many of our family, friends and neighbors face.
Recently a new ALICE report was made available. Click here to view the new website devoted to ALICE. In addition, there is a simulator that takes you through the tough choices people make each day. Click on the link and then click on the Making Tough Choices button to take the challenge.
Understanding what our most vulnerable community members face is the first step to working together to find solutions. That's what it means to Live United!
