Baytown, Texas (October 27, 2017) – Melissa Reabold has been named the new Chief Executive Officer of the United Way of Greater Baytown Area & Chambers County. She officially joined the United Way staff on Monday, October 23, 2017. Ms. Reabold accepted the position after leading The United Way of Washington County Maryland for nearly five years.
Prior to moving to Washington County, Ms. Reabold was the Vice President of Resource Development for United Way of the Cape Fear Area (UWCFA) in Wilmington, NC. She had held this position since 2008 and was responsible for all fundraising including major gifts, special events, the community campaign, State Employee Combined Campaign and Combined Federal Campaign. Ms. Reabold has extensive experience in fundraising, marketing, management, operations, strategic planning, administration, and volunteer management.
Ms. Reabold has worked tirelessly to help nonprofit organizations throughout the Cape Fear area. Under her leadership, UWCFA realized an 11% increase in community involvement supporting community impact which focuses on the area’s most critical needs including healthcare, housing and financial stability, and education. She was responsible for building relationships and providing volunteers with the appropriate guidance, training and support to create a successful fundraising model benefiting the local community.
Ms. Reabold worked as a professional fundraiser for more than a decade, having raised significant funds and public awareness for New Hanover Regional Medical Center Foundation and American Red Cross – Cape Fear Chapter. She earned her Master of Business Administration in 1999 and Bachelor of Science in Business Administration: Management and Organizational Development in 1997 and her certification as a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE).
Ms. Reabold is a founding member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), NC Cape Fear Region Chapter and received the 2012 Professional Fundraising Executive of the Year Award at the annual National Philanthropy Day. The award is given to a fundraising executive whose actions and leadership exemplifies ethical and effective professional practice and whose performance has enhanced the financial resources and recognition of the organization for which she works. In addition to be active with the local AFP, Ms. Reabold has been a Rotarian since 2003.
In her free time, Ms. Reabold enjoys spending time with her daughter who also lives in Texas.
